A while back I guest posted over at Sloanbook sharing my recipe for Cake Balls. I figured its been long enough, so I should re-post the recipe over here. This was my first time making cake balls, and although my balls didn’t end up super round, this is one of the easiest recipes you can make, and really yummy too!
This makes a good number of cake balls, so make sure to share some with your friends or neighbors. They won’t be able to resist them, and they’ll love you even more for it too.
The great thing about this recipe is you can make it to your own liking. You see, I made funfetti cake balls, which means I used funfetti cake mix, rainbow chip frosting, and white chocolate coating. But you can change each of those 3 things to make a variety of different flavors. The possibilities are endless.
Cake Balls
1 box of cake mix (funfetti)
Additional Ingredients listed on box (mine was 3 eggs, 1 1/3 cup water, 1/2 cup vegetable oil)
1 can of frosting (rainbow chip)
12 oz candy coating (vanilla)
1 cup milk chocolate chips (for decoration)
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Combine cake mix, eggs, water and oil in a large bowl. Mix well.
3. Spray a 9×13 inch pan with nonstick spray. Pour in cake batter.
4. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
5. Crumble up cake into a large mixing bowl and add frosting. Mix well.
6. Form balls using your hands (warning: your hands will get really messy)
7. Set balls on a sheet pan covered in waxed paper.
8. Freeze for about 30 minutes.
9. Melt candy coating in the microwave for 1 minute. Stir. Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between each, until creamy.
10. Dip cake balls into the candy coating. Shake off excess coating and place back on waxed paper.
11. Set aside for 5 minutes, to allow coating to harden a little.
12. Meanwhile, microwave chocolate chips in a small bowl.
13. Drizzle chocolate chips over the tops of the cake balls.
14. Let chocolate harden completely overnight, or place in freezer for faster results.
Enjoy.
