Chocolate Chip Cookies for Two

Sometimes Nate gets mad at me for making dessert recipes because I am usually pretty good at only eating 2 or so cookies at a time (I count my calories everyday, so I can still get my sweet fix without blowing my calories for the day) but that leaves a bunch more cookies to be eaten. […]

Mini Cadbury Egg Blondies

When I think of Easter, I think of Easter candy. It’s sad for me to say that my mind doesn’t first go to the true importance of Easter. I am very grateful that our Savior, Jesus Christ was resurrected, and that we can celebrate it on this day. But, I do love my Easter candy. Why […]

Triple Chocolate Layer Cake

Last year for my birthday celebrate, Nate made one of the yummiest cakes I have ever eaten. He got the recipe for a chocolate peanut butter cake from smitten kitchen. The chocolate cake was so moist and the peanut butter frosting was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Topped with chocolate ganache. Perfection. […]

Pasta Salad

My favorite candy in the whole wide world is skittles. Although most the time I prefer chocolate over fruity candy, I am always in the mood for skittles. Okay, I’m always in the mood for candy in general, but skittles are the best. I love all the different packages of skittles, crazy cores, original, tropical, […]

Strawberry Balsamic Black Pepper Jam

In California right now you are seeing strawberries everywhere; in the stores, fruit stands, and fields.  It is the perfect time to buy strawberries.

Tuna Casserole

Aimee and Nate came to visit us in California for the long weekend over President’s Holiday. What a wonderful time we had together. We love being together, and I love having them here. It was short, but we filled it full of activities. We got to play games, visit the beach, they were so happy […]

Onion Rings

One of my guilty pleasure foods is frozen corn dogs. Nate will eat them, but he doesn’t love them as much as I do. So after buying a box from Costco we have had them in our freezer for a long time.  We have been trying to clean out our freezer some since there is […]

Homemade Chocolate Caramel Ice Cream

Jan. 20, 2013 – It is 75 plus degrees in San Diego/Fallbrook, CA.  That is what happens here.  We freeze for our winter of 2 weeks and then summer decides to come visit again.  I still haven’t gotten used to it.  And after walking around all bundled up because it is only 55 outside then […]

Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Oh my gosh, you guys, I feel like I haven’t cooked anything in FOREVER. We didn’t cook much before Christmas break, there’s no good excuse, just laziness. And I only cooked one thing over the break. I got a crepe maker for Christmas and so even my one thing was like a 2 step process. […]

Buffalo Ranch Chicken Tacos (Chili’s Crispy Chicken Taco Copycat) (Winger’s Sauce Copycat)

If we are going out to eat, 9 times out of 10 I will choose either Noodles and Company or Chili’s. Of course, these aren’t fancy restaurants by any means, but they are nicer than Wendy’s or Taco Bell, which are our go to fast food restaurants.  At Noodles and Company I have, I think, […]

Pretzel Wrapped Bratwurst

When I first pinned this, I just knew it was one I had to try. I know a lot of people say that pinterest is just a fantasy land, where people pin clothes they wish they had, a house they wish they had, a body they wish they had, and food they wish they could […]

Creamy Chicken Enchiladas

Last Thursday I woke up feeling a little sick, but hoped it was just allergies because I’d had the same feeling before on high pollen days (congestion in my head and nose, sneezes, dry throat). And then Thursday night we went to see Dark Knight Rises. The midnight premier. And the movie was absolutely amazing. […]

Raspberry Ice Cream

I had a couple of cups of raspberries freshly picked this morning and I was in the mood for homemade ice cream.  And when you are in the mood for ice cream you go for it.  I was inspired by a couple of different recipes and then I used what I had on hand.  So […]

BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Nate and I were able to go down to St. George this weekend, and my parents were able to come up from California and meet us there in the middle. We were each in charge of a couple of the meals, and of course we got continental breakfast at the hotel and ate out a […]

German Chocolate Cake

Although I do love all things German, did you know that “German chocolate cake” didn’t originate in Germany at all. It was actually named after an American named Sam German, who developed the Baker’s German Chocolate that is used in the cake. But the original recipe came from a Texan homemaker. Interesting, right? (Thanks Wikipedia!)
