Dear Colby,
Today is your birthday and I can’t believe we’ve been blessed to have you in our lives for two whole years! At this time two years ago I was anxiously awaiting heading to the hospital in the evening and wondering when I’d get to meet my sweet boy!
You’re growing into such a big boy, and you are so independent, but still love mommy and daddy. Most the time you adamantly want to “walk, walk” and do everything yourself, but you still want mom and dad to carry you and help you. Your independence is sometimes hard because you get very frustrated when we can’t do exactly what you want to do (hello terrible twos 😉 ) but I hope it will stay with you forever.
You are 34 inches tall and about 29 pounds (About 75% for both) and you’re starting to look like such a toddler and not a baby anymore. You have all your teeth except your last molars, and the sweetest smile, which still shows your sweet dimple on the right side.
You know about 85 words though daddy and I may be the only ones who can understand about half of them. But its so fun to watch you as you understand more and more language and are able to tell us more and more what you want.
Your favorite foods are pasta, pizza, chicken, salmon, fruit snacks, applesauce and more. You’re a pretty good eater, though you still love “mok” and your bottle and take a bottle when you wake up, before and after your nap and before bed too (and sometimes randomly throughout the day, especially if you get sad or hurt.) You still love sitting on my lap and drinking your milk while playing with my hair, and its your favorite comforting tool and my favorite too.
Before naptime and bedtime you sit in your big rocking chair with me and play with my hair and drink your book while I read books to you and its one one of my favorite times of the day because I love cuddling with you. I’m not looking forward to the day when you no longer want to cuddle with me, or you are too big to have me sit next to you in the chair.
Your favorite movies are the Curious George movies and the Toy Story series and you call Toy Story “meme” although I’m not sure what that means.
You love balls more than anything, and your actually really good at basketball – you can catch the ball and throw it in to your hoop over and over again and always want to play when you see a full sized hoop at someone’s house or a park.
You also love playing in the sink, and splashing water everywhere. Taking long bike rides being pulled behind daddy. Playing with our chickens, and dogs and especially chasing the kitty around the house. Another favorite game is hide and go seek, especially hiding under the blanket with daddy. And being chased in circles around the house. You could throw rocks for hours into the river, and we all love going up the canyon and throwing rocks together, now that its warm and enjoying the beauty around us.
You love dancing, and your favorite song is “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon, and your favorite is having daddy hold you while we all dance together.
I can’t wait to watch you grow and grow for the rest of your life and can’t believe how big and grown up you already are! I love you so much and feel so lucky to be your mom.
Love you forever,
mama.
