Its time for another Five Fact Friday Post. Ready Go.
#1 Last week I ran a half marathon. It’s something I have always wanted to do, and it was a good goal for me to have to keep me motivated to exercise. I am a slow runner, but I ran the whole thing under my goal time (by four minutes) in 2 hours and 26 minutes. That gives me about an 11.3 minute mile. I am so happy to have accomplished something like this, and maybe next year I’ll run another and see if I can run faster! (Ps. My shirt says Berrett and Harrison saved my town from a brutal gang of outlaws – Nate’s brother was in a band named Berrett and Harrison, now he’s a solo act.)
#2 I love that we have been able to go hiking in the evenings after work. We hiked Y mountain (I went to BYU – so there is a Y on the mountain for the school). It was a gorgeous view of Provo and a fun hike to get us in shape for Mt. Timpanogos that we are going to hike soon! Timpanogos is the 2nd highest mountain in Utah, and the hike is 14 miles round trip! We also hiked to a little water fall in Provo Canyon (not Bridal Veil – for those in the area – its called Upper Falls). And we did a weekend trip and hiked whats called the Lofty Lake Loop in the Uintahs, it was an absolutely gorgeous day, filled with fishing, hiking, relaxing, pup swimming, boiling water to save ourselves from dehydration and goodness. 🙂
#3 I am learning to fly fish. With a husband who is an avid fly fisherman, sometimes I am fine sending him on his way and staying home by myself (to catch up on my tv shows, do some housework, whip up a few recipes, or write a few posts) but sometimes I want to spend the time with him. So I’ve gone fishing with him a couple times now. I can bait fish, pretty well when we go to lakes or other streams, but its not allowed in our Provo river. I have officially caught 2 fish on my own in this river, and now I’ve been fly fishing a few times. Its been nice to spend that time with Nate and enjoy the beauty (and the cold!) of the river.
#4 I love giveaways. I love hosting giveaways on our site – to thank you for being awesome readers! I love entering giveaways, and I’ve actually won a few! Be sure to enter our Sink or Swim Summer Party Giveaway going on now. You’ve got 3 more days to enter, and I want one of our readers to win!
#5 We got our first payment for having ads on the blog. Its not much, and its from having ads on the blog for the last 6 months or so. Of course I blog because I love it, obviously the minuscule check we got, isn’t the reason I’m blogging. But its nice to get a little bit, to help pay for a little of the food that I spend to make these delicious recipes that we share with you. Thanks for sticking around with us 🙂

My dad & husband are both REALLY into fly fishing so the first thing my dad bought me when I got married was my own set of waders, boots, & a vest. He passed on one of his rods & reels to me, too. My husband & I used to go fishing together a lot until we started having kids. It’s been a few years now since I’ve gone.

I forgot to mention that my husband is actually fly fishing right now as I type this. 😉

How fun Jenny! My husband likes to go more than I do, but its fun that we can sometimes go together! I think I might get my own rod for my birthday this month! You guys should go again and take your kids with ya! 🙂
