Subway is one of my favorite places to go to grab a quick lunch. With their variety of delicious sandwich options that you can customize to get exactly what you want, from your choice of bread, meats, fresh veggie toppings, cheese and sauces. I have a few favorites that are usually my go tos, but with the introduction of the limited time Italian Hero sandwich, I knew I had to try it!
The sandwich is loaded with delicious authentic Italian flavors. It is packed full of capicola, mortadella, and genoa salami, with provolone cheese, oil and red wine vinegar and oregano, then topped with your favorite fresh vegetables.
If you’re like me and haven’t heard of all these meats, let me explain a little. Capicola is a cured pork, slow roasted and smoked and seasoned with traditional Italian spices. Mortadella is made of cured pork, and seasoned with Italian spices such as garlic and pepper. Genoa salami is dry cured and seasoned with a hint of garlic and a touch of wine. All the flavors come together to give this sandwich a little bit of a spicy, delicious Italian flavor. I topped the sandwich with my favorite vegetables, lettuce, green peppers, olives, and cucumbers – but I think tomato and onion would be especially good too.
Of course I had to pair my sandwich with a bag of chips and a couple of Subway’s delicious cookies.
This will definitely be a meal I’ll get again and again (as long as I can!)

Mortedella is a favorite here in Italian. I see it everywhere. I bet the Italians would really love this sandwich.
