- 8 large apples (use a variety of types - 2 or 3 kinds)
- 1 large lemon (freshly squeezed)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp apple spice
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/8 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 3/4 cup water
Wash, peel, remove seeds, and cut into 8 pieces each apple
After each apple is peeled and cut, place in a bowl and sprinkle with fresh squeezed lemon juice to prevent browning
Place all ingredients into a large pot and stir to mix
Place on stovetop over medium heat
Stir occasionally for 20 to 30 minutes until apples are soft
For chunky applesauce smash with a potato masher, for smooth applesauce pluse in a blender until the smoothness you prefer
Serve warm (it's delicious)
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week
