Ingredients

  • 8 large apples (use a variety of types - 2 or 3 kinds)
  • 1 large lemon (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp apple spice
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/8 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 3/4 cup water

Instructions

  • Wash, peel, remove seeds, and cut into 8 pieces each apple
  • After each apple is peeled and cut, place in a bowl and sprinkle with fresh squeezed lemon juice to prevent browning
  • Place all ingredients into a large pot and stir to mix
  • Place on stovetop over medium heat
  • Stir occasionally for 20 to 30 minutes until apples are soft
  • For chunky applesauce smash with a potato masher, for smooth applesauce pluse in a blender until the smoothness you prefer
  • Serve warm (it's delicious)
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week
