- 16 oz ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced yellow onion
- 1 TBS minced garlic
- 28 oz tomato sauce
- 1 TBS dried parsley
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp kosher salt (to taste)
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper (to taste)
- 1 cup beef broth (can be substituted for chicken broth, or water)
Add your ground beef to a large skillet over medium heat. Crumble the beef into small pieces and let it start to brown.
Add in the onion and garlic and cook another few minutes until they start to soften and the ground beef is cooked through. Drain off any excess grease.
Add in the tomato sauce, parsley, basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir it all together.
Stir in the beef broth.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
Lower the temperature to medium low, or low and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, up to 2 hours.
Serve over your choice of cooked pasta noodles. Topped with fresh chopped basil if desired.
