Ingredients

  • 1 TBS olive oil
  • 1/2 onion (diced)
  • 1/2 cup bacon bits
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 TBS Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 package egg roll wrappers

Instructions

  • Add the olive oil to a large skillet and heat over medium high heat. Add in the diced onion and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes. 1 TBS olive oil , 1/2 onion
  • Add in the bacon bits and cook them for a couple minutes until a little more crispy. 1/2 cup bacon bits
  • Add the ground beef to a bowl and add in the Worcestershire sauce and seasonings, mix together until evenly mixed. 1 pound ground beef, 1 TBS Worcestershire sauce , 1 tsp garlic salt, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp paprika, 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Add the seasoned ground beef and cook, crumbling as it cooks, until browned. Drain out the excess grease.
  • Add the mixture to a bowl, and add in the shredded cheese. Fold until mixed evenly. 1 cup shredded cheese
  • Take one egg roll wrapper and add 2 to 3 Tablespoons of the meat mixture into the center of the egg roll. Roll the egg roll up according to the package directions. Fold the bottom corner up over the filling, fold in the 2 side corners tightly. Then continue to roll it up. 1 package egg roll wrappers
  • Seal the edges by dipping your finger in water and pressing it along the edges and pressing them together. Placing them onto a baking sheet until needed
  • Repeat with remaining filling and egg rolls.
  • Add oil to a large skillet until it is about 1 inch thick. Heat it over medium high, or until it reaches 350 F.
  • Add a few egg rolls to the pan at a time, making sure to give them space so they don't touch.
  • Let the egg rolls cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until the wrappers are golden brown in color all over. Transfer them to a stack of paper towels, and repeat with additional egg rolls.
  • Serve warm with ketchup, mustard, fry sauce, or your choice of burger condiments.

Notes

  • Egg Roll Wrappers: Keep your extra egg rolls covered with a damp rag or paper towel to keep them from drying out.
  • Oil Temperature: Check the oil temperature for best results. You want the oil to be 350 F for a nice crispy exterior while allowing the interior to cook completely, and not letting the outside burn. If you aren't using a thermometer make sure to test one egg roll in the oil, and if it is browning too quickly (less than our suggested time) lower the temperature.
  • Bake Instead: Bake the egg rolls by brushing the outsides in oil, and baking at 425 F for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the egg rolls are golden, flipping them half way through baking. They won't be as crispy, but will save you a few calories.
  • Store Before Serving: Cooking your egg rolls in batches is the best for even cooking. Store the already baked rolls on a pan in an oven pre-heated to 250 F to keep them warm.
