The Best Salas Ever

Use garden fresh tomatoes with cilantro, garlic, and seasonings to make the best salsa ever.

  • 4 small tomatoes
  • 1 small yellow onion
  • 1 small jalapeno (seeds removed)*
  • 1/2 TBS garlic (mnced)
  • 3/4 tsp sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/3-1/2 cup cilantro
  • 2 TBS lime juice

  • Slice tomatoes and onions, about 1 centimeter thick.
  • Chop the tomatoes and onions the other 2 directions to make small square pieces.
  • Cut jalapeno in half and remove seeds. Dice jalapeno.
  • Chop cilantro.
  • Make a pile on your cutting board of tomato, onion, jalapeno, cilantro and minced garlic.
  • Using a large knife chop the mixture up. Any time the mixture spreads out, push them back into a pile. Do this for about 2-3 minutes, until you get the pieces as small as you can (whatever your desired consistency is)
  • In a medium sized bowl, put sugar, salt, cumin, chili powder, tomato mixture and lime juice. Stir well. Smash a couple times with a spoon.

*make sure you are wearing kitchen gloves when you remove the seeds and don't touch your eyes or it will cause burning
