Ingredients

  • 4 cups chopped strawberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 TBS fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup half and half

Instructions

  • Add the strawberries to a bowl with the sugar and stir them together. Let them sit together to macerate for about 10 minutes. 4 cups chopped strawberries, 1 cup granulated sugar
  • Add the lemon juice to the strawberries and then add the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth. 1 TBS fresh lemon juice
  • Pour the mixture through a strainer to get the seeds out.
  • Add the half and half to the strawberry puree, and stir them together. 1 cup half and half
  • Pour the mixture into your frozen ice cream maker bowl. Let the mixer run according to the package directions, about 25 to 30 minutes, until the mixture is a soft serve ice cream consistency.
  • Scoop the sherbet out into a 2qt container and cover with plastic wrap, and foil, or a lid. Freeze the mixture for at least 4 to 6 hours.
  • If the mixture is frozen longer than that it may get harder to scoop. Let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes to soften up before scooping.

Notes

  • Total time does not include chilling time.
  • Freeze your ice cream mixer bowl – Don’t forget to put your ice cream mixer bowl in the freezer at least 12, or even 24 hours before you want to churn your ice cream. This is a recipe you need to plan for, because you will need to freeze the bowl, and later freeze your ice cream.
  • Vodka - Add a Tablespoon of Vodka to the mixture before churning in the ice cream maker to keep the sherbet extra soft and easier to scoop.
  • Other berries - Try making the sherbet with different berries, like raspberry, or blueberry instead. Or try a mix of them for a delicious mixed berry flavor.
  • Rainbow Sherbet - Raspberry sherbet is typically one of the flavors used in rainbow sherbet, so make this raspberry flavored and pair that with our lime sherbet and this orange sherbet for your own rainbow sherbet. Yum!
