Love this recipe! Do you know how many cookies this recipe makes if they’re 2oz?
Aimee says
I haven’t made this one in a while, so I’m forgetting how many cookies the original recipe makes. But this would be about 1/4 to 1/3 as many cookies based on the size of these (these are probably 1/2 – 2/3 oz as is) so I’d guess 12 cookies or so? Let me know if you try it.

The best chocolate cookie, but they get a little hard after a day, so l add cornstarch. Now they’re softer!
Aimee says
Glad you found a fix!

I made these with 1 3/4 c all purpose flour and put in peppermint chunks (thought they were chips) and walnut pieces. Super chewy, chocolatey, minty and delicious! This will be one of my favorite recipes.
Aimee says
That sounds so tasty! Glad you liked them!

This is my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe!! It’s super easy, and they always come out soft and perfect!
Aimee says
Yay! I’m so glad to hear that!

These are delicious!!! My first batch didn’t spread as much and I only used 1-3/4 cups of flour. I tried flattening the dough before cooking and they look much better! Thanks for sharing this delicious cookie recipe!

Good idea squishing the cookies a little before baking! Glad that worked better for you and glad you liked them!

Hi Aimee, your recipe looks really delicious and I am so excited to try it out. I wanted to ask of its ok to skip brown sugar and substitute it with white sugar? How will that effect the cookies? Thanks so much!
Aimee Berrett says
Brown sugar makes baked goods a little moister so the cookie maybe a little crispier. It also gives a little richer flavor I think. I like the mix of the two.

I made these, only used a 1/2 cup each of semisweet chocolate, chopped ghirardelli dark chocolate, and white chocolate chips (1-1/2 cups of chocolate together, and it seemed like the perfect combo) and brought them into work, and everyone absolutely loved them!! My manager even had to ask for the recipe (and I memorized the whole recipe, surprisingly) I made a double batch of these, ad they were gone in no time! Soo good! My coworkers went on all day how much they loved me, haha, I think that was just the cookies talking, though

Mmm it sounds so good with chocolate and white chocolate chips! I’ve also made them with on and mint chips too 😋 So glad you were the hero of the office 😄

These are delicious cookies! I made them with my niece and we couldn’t stop snacking on the dough!! We also added a few white chocolate chips as well as semi sweet ones. One thing I will suggest is longer baking time– They were still puffy after baking for about 8 minutes. Delicious cookies though. Can’t wait to share the recipe with my sister and her kids!
Aimee Berrett says
Courtney, I’m so glad you liked them! These are one of my favorite cookies so its so fun to “virtually” share with your family! Definitely watch the cooking time, as I’m sure oven temperatures, altitude and different cookie sizes make a difference, so for sure bake them until they are done for you 🙂

I’ve just made these cookies to put into mason jars as Christmas gifts, and they were amazing! I absolutely love them. I added half semi sweet chocolate chips and half white chocolate. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!
Aimee Berrett says
So glad you like them Kerri! It sounds fabulous with chocolate and white chocolate chips, I have to try that next time!
Lisa says
Bravo! This is the most delicious chocolate cookie I have ever eaten. (I am 60 years old so I have eaten lots of chocolate cookies.) I needed to include a chocolate cookie in the box of Christmas treats that I mail to my children. I now have my one and only chocolate cookie recipe. Thanks so much. This made my day!

What should I do when my butter is salted ? Should I increase the amount of sugar ? And if I should increase the amount of sugar , which one ? Brown or white ?
Aimee Berrett says
Sorry I just saw this, don’t add more sugar. Instead you’ll just want to lower the amount of salt you add. The reason I prefer unsalted is because different brands use different amounts of salt in their butter so its hard to know exactly how much you’re getting. But I’d at least lower the added sugar to 1/4 tsp (instead of 1/2)

Tonight I am making these cookies. I couldn’t for the life of me understand why my batter looked funny. I read the directions again and for the butter it states 2 cups (1stick) . what I did WS looked at the 1 stick and just did that. But now I am confused. Do I use 2 cups which equals 4 sticks of butter or 1 stick? 🙂
Aimee Berrett says
So sorry Penny, the instructions should say “1/2 cup butter (1 stick) which is what it shows on my end – it is also just 1/2 cup brown sugar does yours not show the half part?
