I know I already said that the part of our trip to Portland I was most excited for was Salt and Straw, but I may have been lying – I really was so excited to visit the Tillamook Cheese Factory. I mean, who doesn’t love Tillamook cheese and ice cream, and being able to have samples of their amazing cheese, and see it being made?! So cool! Plus they’ve got an ice cream counter with all their amazing ice cream flavors and a delicious cafe. Have I convinced you that you need to visit yet?
So Friday we visited the Tillamook factory on our way in for the day. We got breakfast at the Tillamook factory cafe after going on a quick self guided tour of the factory, walking through the cheese sample line at least twice, and browsing their store. Nate got a delicious, huge breakfast burrito packed full of delicious Tillamook medium cheddar cheese, scrambled eggs, onions and peppers, and he got sausage in his too. I got a breakfast sandwich, with cheddar cheese, an egg, and bacon on an English muffin with a side of hashed browns. Both were so delicious!
And of course when you’re at the Tillamook factory, why not have ice cream for breakfast too! Of course Colby didn’t complain since ice cream is one of his favorite things ever.
We visited the Tillamook factory a second time later that day, for more cheese samples and more ice cream. I also bought some of their fudge, chocolate and salted caramel and raspberry cheesecake. Yum! Cheesecake fudges are my favorite and I’m hoping I can figure out a recipe to make it at home some day.
I don’t remember all the different ice cream flavors we tried, but I just love how creamy and delicious Tillamook ice cream is. We tried the fireside s’mores, marionberry pie, white chocolate raspberry yum, caramel butter pecan, chocolate peanut butter and I don’t remember what else – but you can’t really go wrong with any of their delicious flavors.
Stay tuned to find out what else we did in the Tillamook area!
