- snow peas
- onions
- teriyaki sauce – I love a sweet teriyaki like Mr. Yoshida’s Sauce
- brown sugar
- rice vinegar
- garlic
- powdered ginger
- cooked white rice – a short hulled white rice, or a jasmine rice is great.
How to make Asian Beef and Snow Peas?
- Add the teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, half the minced garlic, rice vinegar, and ginger to a small bowl and whisk them together. Set your sauce aside for later.
- Add the minced garlic, and diced onions to a large skillet or sauté pan and cook for a couple minutes. Then add in the ground beef and cook the meat thoroughly, breaking it up into pieces as it cooks.
- Add in the mushrooms and snow peas and sauté them for a couple minutes until tender.
- Pour the stir fry sauce over the meat mixture and cook until it’s coated the mixture and hot throughout.
Serve over the prepared white rice if desired. Top the dish with diced green onions and sesame seeds for some color and flavor.
Substitution Ideas:
This recipe is very versatile, here are some great substitution ideas
- Swap out the beef for ground chicken, ground turkey, or even shrimp, or tofu
- Add in other vegetables you like, just make sure to sauté them until they are crisp tender. Some of our favorite options are bell pepper, or carrots to give even more texture and nutrients in the dish.
- You can also serve the dish over brown rice, or cooked noodles if desired.
Tips and Tricks:
- If you want your sauce to be a little thicker, and more sticky whisk in 2 TBS of cornstarch to the sauce when cold before cooking.
How to store leftovers?
Add the leftovers to an airtight container or other container with a lid and store them in the fridge for 3-4 days. You can store the meat and vegetables alone, or directly on top of the rice.
To reheat the dish, you can add it to a skillet, and cook over medium heat, with a little extra teriyaki sauce or water to prevent it from drying out, until everything is hot throughout. You can also microwave the dish until hot throughout.
This is a great simple stir fry dish that your whole family will love. It’s a quick and easy dish to get on the dinner table. Give it a try and let me know what you think in the comments!
