Tips for making Apple Cake:

1) If you don't have buttermilk on hand, you can make your own by adding 1 tsp vinegar to the 1/2 cup of regular milk. 2) Since the apple pieces are so small, you can skip peeling them if you want. 3) The best apples to use are crisp apples like honeycrisp, jonagold, or pinklady. 4) You can skip adding frosting, and lightly dust it with powdered sugar, or eat the cake plain.

Whisk together the wet Ingredients

Add in the eggs

Flour, Baking Soda, Baking Powder, Salt, Cinnamon and Nutmeg

Whisk together the dry Ingredients in another bowl.

Add half the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. 

Then half the buttermilk. Then remaining dry ingredients, and remaining buttermilk.

Fold in the apple pieces.

Pour the batter into a greased baking pan.

Bake until a toothpick comes out clean.

Then let cake cool, and top it with frosting if desired.
