- Instead of frozen roll dough you can also use canned pizza dough, or canned biscuit dough instead.
- You can bake these pizza rolls in a 9×13 pan, or spread them out on a lined half cookie sheet to get each of the sides more crispy.
- Stuff the rolls with cheese and whatever your favorite toppings are. Just remember you can’t fit too many toppings instead them, some good toppings are sausage, mini pepperoni, ham, sliced canadian bacon, diced bell pepper, onion, or olives.
- You can thaw the frozen rolls at room temperature for about 2 hours, or in the microwave to thaw them in just a few minutes. Place 6 of the rolls at a time of a microwave safe plate, cover them with plastic wrap and microwave them for 30 seconds. Flip them over, cover again, and microwave for another 30 seconds.

This is a delicious and quick recipe. At times I add mushrooms, onions, ham, peppers, fresh tomatoes etc. I have even used beef mince or pineapple. It all depends on what I want that day. So many options! Cheese and meats are limitless.
In the summer I make this recipe on my BBQ using a pizza stone. Even if you don’t have a pizza stone, just use indirect heat. Incredible!
Aimee says
So glad you love it Shirl! I’ll have to try it on my grill next time, such a good idea!
Dana says
After filling, is there raising time?
Aimee says
You don’t need to raise them additionally, as they’ll raise more when baking
Ellen says
I made these for our family dinner tonight, man oh man were they easy and delicious. I want to put them in our regular family dinner rotations because they were really just that yummy. And I couldn’t have eaten all of them. This is a top rated recipe. Thanks.
Kate says
You stated to thaw for two hours-is this at room temperature?
Ellen says
The 2 hour thaw is at room temperature
Kate says
These look yummy! How long did it take to thaw the rolls out-you stated two hours, but the bags states 8-16 hours.
Aimee says
That would be two hours covered with plastic wrap at room temp. You’re not letting the rolls rise, just thaw so they’re not frozen, and you can stretch them out.
My package says 3-5 hours to fully risen 🙂 If you want to thaw them in the fridge it might be 4-5 hours
Linda says
Hi; Linda again; What other “toppings” can you use? I never liked peperoni. Also the bottom got too HARD and dark. I seem to get either the tops too dark or the bottom. Must be the oven.
Thank you
Aimee says
Hi Linda, if the bottom of your baked goods tend to get hard, I’d raise the rack that you’re baking on. If it’s also the top, maybe your oven temp runs high. You could try raising it and covering in foil.
As far as toppings, try cooked sausage crumbles, diced ham, bacon bits, shredded chicken, etc.
linda says
Thank you. I made these this AM. and my goodness; they are a KEEPER. Very good!
Thank you
Linda
Aimee says
Yay! I’m so glad you loved them!
Sue says
?? Reheat ?? You need to say the oven temp and how long. Forget this thing so called “air fryer”. Normal cooking pls. Oven temp, how long and do you wrap etc. ??? Thank you
Aimee says
It should be 350 F for about 10 minutes.
Linda says
Also; how to prevent the tops from browning; I do not like that even when I bake. Should we put foil on top?? I want the tops pale like your picture.
Linda
Aimee says
I don’t cover the top in foil, but you can watch them and if they start to turn golden add foil on top.
Linda says
Hi; What is the yellow stuff inside the roll when you tear it apart. Last picture.? Just curious because there is no yellow ingredients.
Linda
Aimee says
It’s just the bottom of the roll and the cheese.
Bryana says
