Winter Fruit Salad Recipe with Kiwi FAQs
This fruit salad is best served shortly after making it. Because the pomegranate seeds have such a strong color they tend to bleed the colors into the other fruits if made in advance.
If you do make this salad in advanced, I recommend only making it a few hours before serving, and storing in the fridge – add the pomegranate seeds right before serving.
Instead of the fruits called for in the recipe, you can pick your favorite fruits to add – here are some popular choices that are ripe in the winter:
– pears
– red or black grapes
– pineapple
– blood oranges
There aren’t strict rules about what fruits shouldn’t be added to fruit salads, some combinations may mix better than others, with harmonious flavors and textures. A few that you might not want in this fruit salad
– delicate berries break down quickly: add them right before serving to maintain texture
– mangoes: a very dominant flavor they might over power the salad
– fruits not in season in winter
Instead of lemon juice, this recipe uses the citric acid in lime juice for the same purpose – to keep the fruits fresh. This will prevent browning, and add a nice fresh flavor and zing.

The great thing about fruit salad is you can use any fruit varieties that are in season. I have this fruit salad recipe as well as a rainbow fruit salad that I think would both be great for a reception. Maybe 3x or 4x the recipe for enough to serve 30-40
