These 4th of July Strawberries are adorable red, white, and blue strawberries dipped in white chocolate and blue sugar for a fun and delicious Fourth of July Treat.
I love chocolate covered strawberries. I mean, who doesn’t? Usually when I make chocolate covered strawberries I am dipping something else in chocolate; Oreo cookies, pretzels, cake balls, etc. and whenever I have a little extra chocolate and some strawberries in my fridge I am one happy girl!
Well, in honor of Fourth of July coming soon, I thought, what could be cuter and yummier than a delicious Fourth of July chocolate covered strawberry. I had previously never tried strawberries dipped in white chocolate, but let me tell you, I am a new fan.
These Red White and Blue Strawberries are such a fun treat for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or Labor Day! They’re such a great festive dessert, that is not only easy, adorable, but also delicious!
Ingredients Needed to make 4th of July Strawberries:
- fresh strawberries
- white chocolate chips or white candy melts
- blue sanding sugar
How to make Red, White, and Blue Strawberries?
Carefully rinse your strawberries with water, and pat them dry with paper towels.
Add your white chocolate to a small bowl, heat it in 30 second intervals in the microwave stirring after each increment until you can stir it totally smooth.
Dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way up to the top. Twist the strawberries around over the bowl to let the excess chocolate drip off.
Dip the strawberries about 1/3 to 1/2 way up into the blue sugar.
Lay them onto a parchment paper or wax paper lined cookie sheet until the white chocolate is set.
Tips and Tricks:
- Make sure to rinse the strawberries before dipping them in chocolate, and completely drying them with a paper towel so that the chocolate will stick to the cleaned strawberries.
- You can also melt the white chocolate in a double boiler. Fill the bottom pan with a couple of inches of water and heat it over medium low heat. Add the white chocolate on top and stir it as it melts, until it’s fully melted.
- When it comes to sprinkle types, not all blue sprinkles are created equal. I recommend using blue sugar/ blue sanding sugar / blue sparkling sugar because the flavor is better for these, and I love the slight crunch it adds to the strawberries as well.
How to store white chocolate dipped strawberries?
If the strawberries are not going to be consumed within a few hours of dipping and making them you will want to store them in the refrigerator. They can be stored in a cool dry place at room temperature for up to 8 hours, or they can be stored in the fridge for about 2 days.
To prevent the chocolate from sweating, you can line the bottom of a container with paper towels and place the dipped strawberries onto the paper towels. Carefully place another paper towel over the top of the strawberries, and cover the container with a lid and store in the fridge for up to 2 days. Let them warm to room temperature for about 30 minutes to 1 hour before serving them again.
These patriotic strawberries are such a fun red white and blue dessert, and are perfect for the entire summer, or for a patriotic holiday, like Memorial Day, or the Fourth of July.

Red, White and Blue Strawberries
Ingredients
- 36 strawberries (about 2 pounds)
- 12 oz white chocolate chips (or a chopped up baking chocolate bar, or white candy melts work too)
- 1/2 cup blue sanding sugar
Instructions
- Carefully clean the strawberries under water. Pat the strawberries completely dry with some paper towels.
- Add the white chocolate chips to a small bowl and add them to the microwave. Microwave at 50% power in 30 second increments, stirring after each until you can stir the chocolate totally smooth.
- Dip the strawberries in the white chocolate with about 1/4- 1/3 of the top red strawberry showing.
- Twist the strawberries over the white chocolate bowl to let the extra chocolate drip off.
- Dip the strawberries about 1/3-1/2 way up in blue sugar. (Alternatively you can also sprinkle the blue sugar over the strawberries, you'll have a less fine line, but this can prevent globs of white chocolate dripping into the sugar).
- Lay the strawberries on parchment paper or wax paper, and allow them to rest until the white chocolate is fully hardened.
