These Marble Cookies are a delicious combination of chocolate cookie dough, and chocolate chip cookie dough for a delicious, soft and chewy cookie that is the best of both worlds!
These cookies are a soft swirled cookie with both a chocolate cookie dough, and a chocolate chip cookie dough. And both sides are loaded with chocolate chips, though adding white chocolate chips to half the dough would be delicious too.
I love our chocolate peanut butter marbled cookies so much (made with a peanut butter dough and a chocolate cookie dough marbled together), so I knew that another marble cookie would be a good idea. I love the look of the light and dark cookie doughs swirled together (and one of the girls I gave these too called them yin yang cookies).
This recipe is made with just one dough, that is separated into two sections to add cocoa powder to one half of the dough. Then they are twisted and rolled together to get a nice marbled design in each cookie.
The cookies are thick, soft, and chewy, and the perfect cookie to make when you can’t decide between a double chocolate cookie, and classic chocolate chip. You’ll love the combination of the brownie like cookie swirled with the vanilla chocolate chip cookie.

Ingredients You’ll Need:

- unsalted butter
- brown sugar
- granulated sugar
- eggs
- vanilla extract
- all purpose flour
- baking powder
- baking soda
- salt
- cocoa powder
- chocolate chips
How to make Marble Cookies?
- Cream together the butter and sugars in a large bowl. I recommend using the bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, but a hand mixer will work as well. Beat them together for a couple of minutes until the mixture has lightened in color. Add in the eggs, and vanilla extract and stir until just combined, scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl as you go.
- Add in some of the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt and stir it all together until you have a soft cookie dough.
- Split the cookie dough in half, add the remaining flour to one portion for your vanilla dough, and add the cocoa powder to the other half for your chocolate dough. Add chocolate chips to each cookie dough section as well. Cover the cookie doughs in plastic wrap and place them in the fridge for chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Take 1 TBS of each of the cookie doughs and squish them together. Roll them into a smooth ball in the palms of your hands. Twist the cookie doughs together to give the cookies more of a beautiful marble effect.
- Place the cookie dough balls onto the parchment paper lined prepared baking sheets, at least 2 inches apart from each other to allow the cookies to spread as they bake.
- Bake the cookies in the preheated oven until the edges are set and golden brown, and centers look almost done. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the cooling rack, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Tips and Tricks:
- To make the cookies picture perfect, add a few extra chocolate chips to the top of the cookies right after removing them from the oven to make your finished product extra pretty.
- Try adding some white chocolate chips to both the cookie doughs, or just to the chocolate cookie dough to create an inside out chocolate chip cookie half.
How to store cookies?
Let the cookies cool, then you can store any leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
The marble cookies can also be frozen. Place them in a freezer safe container, and freeze the cookies for up to 3 months.
When your sweet tooth craving strikes you can thaw the cookies at room temperature for about an hour, or place them in the oven preheated to 275 F and let them heat for a few minutes until warm throughout.

Marble Cookies
Ingredients
For Making the Cookie Dough Base:
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks, softened)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
For Making the Two Doughs:
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 5 TBS cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions
For Making the Cookie Dough Base:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together the butter and sugars in a large bowl for a couple of minutes, until the butter is light and fluffy, a stand mixer with a paddle attachment is best.
- Add the eggs and vanilla and mix in until just combined.
- Add the 2 1/2 cups flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and stir them to combine it into a soft cookie dough.
- Separate the dough into two equal portions.
For Making the Two Doughs:
- Add the remaining 1/4 cup of flour to one section of the dough, and work it in completely.
- Add the cocoa powder to the other section of the dough, and work it into the dough evenly and completely.
- Mix chocolate chips into each of the cookie dough sections.
- Take about 1 TBS of each dough, squish them together and roll them into a smooth ball.
- Place the cookie balls onto the prepared baking sheet, at least 2 inches apart from each other.
- Bake the cookies for 8 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops have started to crack.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely.

These cookies are delicious! I’m a chocolate lover, so I used the full 1.5 cups of chips and also dipped the cookies in more mini chips before baking. These cookies say try me, but I’m confused on the directions, the recipe says 2 eggs, but the direction says add the egg, do we add both eggs to the original dough?

The dough for these cookies looks really oily before it bakes. We thought there were too many chocolate chips as written. I guess that is just preference. We reduced the chocolate chips quite a bit. The cookies did get eaten all up . Enjoy.
