Overnight Strawberry Baked French Toast

This baked French Toast is so good.  It is like eating dessert for breakfast.  We topped it with buttermilk syrup, more strawberries and whipped topping.  I had to hold myself back from eating 2nds and 3rds.

Ingredients:

French Bread:

1 loaf French Bread or other hard crusted bread (I used 4  large whole grain rolls)
5 large eggs (beaten)
2 1/2 cups milk
3/4 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon orange zest
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup sliced strawberries

Streusel Topping:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold butter, cut into pieces

Additional sliced strawberries for topping

Buttermilk syrup

Whipped Topping

14. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes.

The original recipe called for strawberries and rhubarb, I can envision this with blueberries too.
