This chocolate cookie dough is the perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth any time the chocolate craving strikes. It’s a delicious egg-free edible chocolate cookie dough that is totally safe to eat!
You all know how much I love edible cookie dough. After making an edible chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter cookie dough and an edible sugar cookie dough, I thought it was about time I make a chocolate cookie dough for you.
Since, 99% of the time when I want cookie dough, I just need a little bowlful just for me, this is another cookie dough for one recipe for you. So this chocolate cookie dough was the next one to add to the repertoire. And let me tell you, it’s so delicious!
Just like our other cookie dough recipes, this chocolate cookie dough recipe is made egg free, so it’s totally safe to eat. Perfect if you’re pregnant, for kids, or for any one who wants to be extra safe when eating cookie dough – because let’s be honest, I know you all sneak a spoonful or two of cookie dough when you’re making cookies, right?
I stuffed my chocolate cookie dough with chocolate chips, because what could be better than chocolate? Double chocolate that’s what!
But, if you want to switch it up, instead of adding chocolate chips you could also add a variety of other chips for yummy flavor combinations.
- mint chips
- peanut butter chips
- white chocolate chips
- m&ms
- nuts
- caramel bits
- chopped up candy bars
The possibilities are practically endless. Now, are you ready to see how to make the good stuff?
How to make Chocolate Cookie Dough?
First you’ll cream together your butter, sugar and brown sugar. You’ll want them nice and smooth and creamed for a couple minutes. Add in some vanilla extract and milk. You use milk to keep the dough “wet” since there are no eggs to hold it all together. Add in some flour and a little salt too. Cut the salt in half or don’t use any if you are using salted butter.
Once it’s all mixed together and a good dough like consistency you can fold in your chocolate chips. Your cookie dough is now ready to eat. You can eat it with graham crackers or other cookies, or apples, or by the spoonful. I’ll let you guess which way I like it best 😉
You can also store it in the fridge if you want it to get a little more solid, or roll it into little dough balls to eat one or two when ever the craving strikes. The chocolate cookie dough should stay good in the fridge for about 5 days.
This chocolate cookie dough is the best treat to eat, whether you are craving something sweet at the end of the day, need a chocolate break away from your kids, or just need an afternoon snack.

Can I substitute butter for oil?
Aimee says
Since that gives a lot of the flavor, I wouldn’t recommend it, but if you don’t mind the oil taste then it should be fine (coconut oil would be my first preference)

Well I have two specialty that I would like to share, I don’t want sound braggy or arrogant but I have had some good reviews, hope I don’t sound braggy sorry If I do.
Brittany L Campbell says
I really want to try this but I am worried it may be too chocolatey or too rich. Also I was wondering if I could use some of the recipes that you use here I will add some of my own things. I want to be able to bake some of these in my bakery when I get older I am only 17. But can I use some of your recipe ideas or some techniques I will not use any photos and I will write the recipe in my own words, I will not copy and paste because that is wrong. I promise.
Brittany L Campbell says
Also do you guys have your own bakery where I can do internship? specifically in Oklahoma?
Aimee says
We don’t have a bakery, only this website, and we are also located in Utah! Good luck!
Aimee says
Hi Brittany, it’s definitely rich just like a chocolate cookie dough would taste if you were making cookies. You’re welcome to add less sugar or cocoa powder if you think you won’t like it.
Also, I think by the time you’re starting your own bakery you’ll probably want to create and develop your own recipes.
Brittany L Campbell says
yeah your right, I actually have a specialty that I would like to share. If it is okay with you.
Becky Blad says
This is SO good! It’s dangerous because it’s so easy to make! I made this with my boys and it was so much fun. We did need to chill the dough for a bit before scooping it into balls but maybe because today was a hot summer day.
Brittany L Campbell says
I wonder what it would taste like when served with vanilla ice cream yummm.
seth says

rhea Hannah frankham says
Do you know how many calories this is?
Aimee says
The nutritional information should be on the recipe card now. But just remember the amounts are approximates and yours may be slightly different with different brand ingredients, measuring, etc. It’s a little more than 700 calories for the whole bowl.
seth says
look at the bottom of the recipe.
Deziray says
I’ve made this so many times and each time I’ve made it, it was amazing.
Krysta Brewer says
I absolutely love this so easy to make and delicious. If you want it cooled I recommend putting it in the freezer for about 20 to 30 minutes.
Norah says
This was really good! I doubled the recipe for me and my bro, and didn’t measure the chocolate chips 😉 Ours was a little bitter, but I think it was because of the cocoa powder. A little tip is to put a little parchment paper on the plate while you’re microwaving it. Ours for some reason stuck to the plate a little. Definitely would make again.
Aimee says
Good suggestion, thanks! And I’m so glad you both liked it!
Clarissa says
Sooooo yummy! I’m sorry to bother you again, but do you know the calories? Is there a website to use to calculate it? Thanks!!

Anything with uncooked flour is NOT totally safe to eat. Just Google flour and salmonella. You only need to cook the flour as little to make it safe though, so there’s options. If you worry about eating raw egg, then you should think about the flour too. As a responsible blogger you should update your recipe to reflect this. If not just for your own liability. Please update your recipe.
Aimee says
You must have not read the recipe, because the first step is to microwave the flour to heat it and reduce risk of salmonella.

If you microwave thr flour, watch it carefully. I microwaved mine for 60 seconds and my microwave is full of flour smoke and my whole house smells like it’s on fire. In the end I had to make it without flour, but it still tasted good.
Gorge says
Best cookie dough EVER!!! It looks exactly the same in real life and definitely is chocolaty!
Ellen says
So glad you like it. We love cookie dough so much too.
Sammy says
Definitely less or no salt, tastes wayy better!! Otherwise it’s delicious
Aimee says
I always recommend to use unsalted butter to make sure you can control the salt amount. With salted butter it could most likely go without like you said 🙂
