Pin these Snickers Rice Krispie Treats for Later!
It’s always hard for me to choose a favorite candy bar, but I will tell you that Snickers bars are one of my favorites.
I recently tried a new bar that they came out with called Snickers Crisper which adds crunchy crisp rice cereal to the traditional Snickers bar and afterwards I knew I had to try making a Snickers Rice Krispie Treat. And let me tell you it was a GOOD decision.
These snickers rice krispie treats start like traditional rice krispies treats, which means butter, marshmallows and crisp rice cereal – so that’s a good start right? Gooey buttery rice krispie treats are always a good idea, but just wait till you try these ones!
Ingredients Needed:
This is a quick overview of the ingredients you’ll need for this Snickers Rice Krispie Treats Recipe. Specific measurements and full recipe instructions are in the printable recipe card below.
- butter
- mini marshmallows
- crisp rice cereal
- salted peanuts
- soft caramels – I like Kraft or Werther’s brands
- heavy cream
- chocolate chips – use a high quality chocolate chip for the tastiest results
How to make Snickers Rice Krispie Treats
- Prepare a batch of the best rice krispie treats. Melt the butter and marshmallows over low heat, once melted stir in the cereal and press the mixture into a 9×13 pan.
- Spread a bunch of salted peanuts over the top of the rice krispie treats.
- Melt the caramel and heavy cream in a sauce pan until smooth and creamy and pour the caramel mixture over the peanuts and the krispie bars.
- Add the chocolate layer. Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second increments, stirring as much as you can. Then pour the melted chocolate over the treats and spread it evenly over the top. Let the chocolate set. then cut into pieces.
Tips and Tricks:
- Cook on low – Keep the rice krispie treats soft by melting the butter and marshmallows on low heat,.
- Add extra marshmallows – Don’t skimp on the marshmallows. I always add an extra handful with the cereal if I have more.
- Make these into milky way rice krispie treats – by skipping the peanuts.
Storage Instructions:
Transfer the bars into an airtight container and store them at room temperature for 3 to 4 days. Don’t keep them in fridge or the bars will get too hard, and hard to cut.
If you want to store the bars longer, you can freeze them. Wrap the individual bars up in plastic wrap, then store them in a freezer safe bag or container. Freeze them for up to 3 months. Thaw them at room temperature before enjoying them again.
What could be better than crunchy marshmallowey rice krispie treats with caramel peanuts and chocolate. Seriously these bars are a dream come true.
And definitely a sugar overload. Cut them into small pieces 😉
They’re the perfect combination of all things good, with a lot of sweet, a little salty from the peanuts. A little crunchy, and a little soft and gooey. And caramel, chocolate, peanuts and marshmallows are just a combo that is meant to be I tell ya.

MAKE THESE DELICIOUS SNICKERS RICE KRISPIE TREATS WITH THE HELP OF THESE KITCHEN TOOLS AND INGREDIENTS:
Bars are rich so they are great cut even smaller than photos shown if desired.
Karen Raskas says
I made these last week and they were a huge success. I did make my own caramel, cut them into small pieces and dipped them in chocolate, they were amazing. People did say they tasted like a Snicker Bar. I just wanted to know how long they keep, everything I read says Rice Krispie Treats are only good for a day or two unless stored in the freezer. I have kept them in the refrigerator for over a week and they still taste great.
Nancy says
Just finished making them, except I can’t have peanuts…so I made Milky Way bars instead, leaving the peanuts out.
Also, my store ran out Kraft Caramels ( it’s almost Halloween )….so I bought a bag of Caramel Cremes.
Melted just fine. Can’t wait to try them. 🤣
Melissa says
Hi! I cant wait to try these. I have a question about the caramels. The recipe says “16 oz 1 1/2 11oz bags caramels ( unwrapped)”—do I use 16 oz of caramels and and 11 oz bag? What does the 1 1/2 mean?
Melissa says
*can’t wait to try these! 🙂
Aimee says
Hi! Sorry for the confusion! That should be 16oz or 1.5 11.oz bags so those two are the same, if you buy them in the bags it would be 1.5 of them, if you buy them in bulk or something you’ll need 16oz. Make sense?
K says
I don’t like the taste of those bagged caramels. When making my own, what temp do I cook them at?
Aimee says
You can look at different recipes and they should tell you the temperatures, but if you’re just making homemade caramels they should be about 245-250 F
Mimi says
Made these for a family reunion this weekend. I cut them small, into pop in your mouth size…so there were about 80 little Snickers Rice Krispie Treats. They were the first dessert to disappear! Everyone loved them. Thanks for sharing. For those of you who have never made Rice Krispie Treats…be sure to line your pan with foil (enough to have handles on ends), PAM the foil and any wooden spoon or spatula that you use…this makes clean up easier.
Aimee says
Fantastic! So glad everyone enjoyed them 🙂
Sue Johnson says
I made your Snickers Rice Krispies Treats. BIG HIT!!! For another version on the second making I added 1/2 cup of chunky peanut butter to the Rice Krispies mixture and this was also a BIG HIT! Thank you so much for sharing these recipes with us.
Aimee says
That sounds like an amazing idea! I’m going to have to try it next time!
Diane Lilly says
How long does it need to set using milk chocolate chips on the top layer? It’s been over an hour and still soft to touch. Your picture looks like hard fudge on top really a good set to pick up with your fingers to eat. Mine are still gooey when holding it in your fingers. Just to messy. Taste is great! Wanted to give half of these to my Mail Lady today when she comes by. What’s a girl to do!!! lol
Aimee says
Hi Diane, sometimes it can be pretty slow to set! I’d stick it in the fridge for like 30 minutes for a rapid set! You’ll want to let them set a bit at room temperature before eating though so the caramel and bar part can soften back up!
Pat Grummons towle says
Can you use the bagged Carmel bits in stead of the Carmel candy
Aimee Berrett says
bagged caramel bits have a wax coating around them to keep them from sticking, I’m not sure if they will melt as well.
Cheryl Iskrzycki says
I am wondering if you need to use heavy cream, can I substitute milk?
Aimee Berrett says
Hi Cheryl, I think milk should work, since its a little thinner already you might need less of it than cream, maybe 2 TBS instead of 3?
rhondaharvey7@yahoo.com says
I made this recipe over the weekend for a bake sale at my church. They were a huge HIT!! I will definitely make them again! 😃
Donna Sasey says
Can you use the caramel ice cream topping instead? Or boil a can of condensed milk to make the caramel?
Aimee Berrett says
I’m not sure if those would work they would be much thinner than the melted caramels. It might work, it just might be a bit messier 🙂
Vikki says
By caramels do you meant regular toffees?
Aimee Berrett says
I’m not sure what you mean by regular toffees. I usually by Kraft Caramels, like this: http://www.target.com/p/kraft-caramels-11oz/-/A-13302371
Vikki says
Thank you! I am in England so i think toffee is the equivalent. I will use Werthers ‘toffees’ and see how that works x
Kate says
@Vikki – Werthers toffees are a lot harder than Kraft caramels. Caramels are very soft and squishy. I’m not sure what the British equivalent would be.
Lisa says
These look awesome. Just wondering how many one batch makes. Also, can they be made ahead of time and frozen until ready to serve?
Aimee Berrett says
The recipe just makes one 9×13 pan worth. I’m not sure how the chocolate and caramel will thaw after being frozen, but it should be okay
Sharon Oldham says
Made these for my Grandaughter’s Volley Ball team ( 18) and for my Grandson’s Hockey team (32) WHEW! Lol- they turned out perfect and REALLY DID taste like a snickers bar!
These are going to be a GO TO for many other ways to give something sweet and delicious ! thank You Aimee:)
Sherrie
Aimee Berrett says
Sharon!! Thanks so much for telling me. So glad that everyone liked them! Although these are the most like snickers, if you like pecans you’ll have to try the turtle rice krispie treats I just posted too 😉
Jessica Boggs says
After they are made do you refridgerate and keep cold? Or do they just sit out. First time making rice Krispy treats in general so I’m not sure on how to store?
Aimee Berrett says
I usually just keep them out on the counter, the fridge is fine too just makes them harder to slice into. They usually don’t last too long 😉
Debbie Kay says
Do you chop the peanuts…or add them whole?
Aimee Berrett says
The ones I used were whole but lots of them were broken in half as well 🙂
Mary says
So after weeks of dying to makes these I have rice crispy treats floating in caramel milk. Thought I was supposed to add 3 tbs heavy cream and 2 cups of milk to the caramels. Was so confused as to why it wasn’t in the directions but in the ingredients. Now I am realizing it is 2 cups milk chocolate chocolate chips. Ugh! Next time!
Aimee Berrett says
Oh no Mary! I’m so sorry! When you look at it does it actually just say “2 cups milk” or was that a misread? I want to make sure my recipe is showing up correctly
Pattie Halbach says
It does say 2 cups milk,- I was looking thru the comments to try to figure out where the milk goes also. It says chocolate chips on the next line.
Aimee Berrett says
Sorry I can’t figure out why some people’s phones are showing it split up like that, mine and about 10 others I’ve looked at don’t do that, so its strange! Its 2 cups milk chocolate chips, or any chocolate chips – so I edited the recipe to just say chocolate chips (you can choose if you use milk or semi sweet or even dark)
Kristin Bayer says
Just made these last night for my book group, and everyone loved them. Really, really loved them. I had to leave out the peanuts, but nobody missed them.
Aimee Berrett says
So glad you all liked them! I’m sure they’d be just as delicious without the peanuts! (PS the first time I made them was for book club too 😉
Denelle says
Just made these for a work function tomorrow and they look great! Can’t wait to try them!
Aimee Berrett says
How’d they turn out?! Hope you liked them!
Denelle says
They were delicious! A huge success and loved by everyone 😊
Aimee Berrett says
Hooray! I’m so glad!
Tammy Roesler says
Can you stick in the fridge to get chocolate set faster?
Aimee Berrett says
Yeah, it should set faster that way! It may make everything else harder, so you’ll want to let it thaw for a few at room temperature so your tooth don’t break 😉
Jessica @ A Kitchen Addiction says

thanks for the recipe. Exactly what is the measurement for the peanuts? Is it 1/2 cup or jar or what? Thanks.
Aimee Berrett says
So sorry, it’s 1/2 cup. I’ll edit the recipe!
