Ingredients needed to make Sugar Cookie Balls:
This is a quick overview of the ingredients you’ll need for this Sugar Cookie Truffle Recipe. Specific measurements and full recipe instructions are in the printable recipe card below.
- sugar cookies – use already made sugar cookies for this, you can grab some from the grocery store bakery, or make your own homemade sugar cookies. You want unfrosted cookies
- Cream Cheese – let it soften at room temperature for a bit so it mixes easily. Use full fat cream cheese for the best results
- White Chocolate – use white chocolate melting wafers, high quality white chocolate chips, candy melts, or almond bark
- Sprinkles – add your favorite red and green sprinkles on top of the truffles to make them extra cute and dressed up for the holiday season
How to make Sugar Cookie Truffles?
- Add the cookies to a blender or food processor. You want to blend them into a fine crumb. Then add in the softened cream cheese and blend the mixture into a soft dough.
- Roll the sugar cookie dough into small balls and place them in the freezer to chill until firm, about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, in 30 second intervals until smooth. Add one ball to the melted white chocolate and use a fork to cover it in the chocolate. Lift it out of the bowl and tap the fork on the side of the bowl to remove any excess chocolate. Place it on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet, using a toothpick to slide it off the fork if needed.
- Add sprinkles on top of the balls, if desired. Let the truffles sit until the white chocolate is set.
Tips and Tricks:
- Work fast. You need to work fast to dip the truffles in the melted chocolate. Use a fork to dip into the melted chocolate, and tap it on the edge of the bowl to get the extra chocolate off. Because the truffles are cold, the chocolate will harden on them quickly, you may need 2 forks, or a toothpick to get the truffle off the fork and onto the parchment.
- Variations. Use a different chocolate, like milk chocolate or dark chocolate chips to coat your truffles if you want. Change up the sprinkles for different occasions. Try pink and red for Valentine’s Day.
How to store truffles?
Store the leftover truffles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week, or in a freezer safe bag for up to 2 months. Flash freeze them on a baking sheet for 30 minutes, then transfer them to a freezer bag or other freezer container. This will keep them from sticking together. Let them thaw in the fridge, then enjoy.
These sugar cookie truffles are a bite sized indulgence, perfect for a holiday party, or packaged up as a gift. They’re a great easy treat to enjoy during the holidays, without a lot of work!
