Ingredients for Garlic Steak Kabobs
This is a quick overview of the ingredients you’ll need for this Garlic Steak Kabobs Recipe . Specific measurements and full recipe instructions are in the printable recipe card below.
- unsalted butter
- minced garlic – mince your own fresh garlic cloves for the best flavor
- garlic salt
- salt
- black pepper
- sirloin steak
- fresh parsley
How to make Garlic Sirloin Kabobs
- Make the garlic butter. Mix together the melted butter, minced garlic, garlic salt, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Baste the steak pieces. Cut the steak into 1inch cube pieces and brush the butter onto the steak.
- Put the steak cubes onto kabob sticks.
- Grill the steak. Add the kabobs onto a hot grill preheated to medium high heat. Grill for about 10 to 15 minutes, until the pieces reach your desired doneness. Rotate the kabobs every few minutes to sear on all sides. Add more garlic butter. Baste the kabobs with more garlic butter as they cook. Let them rest for 5 minutes before serving, and drizzle with more garlic butter. Sprinkle parsley on the top, if desired.
Tips and Tricks
- Skewers – if using wood skewers, soak them in water before using them to grill to prevent the wood from burning. You can also use metal skewers, just be careful when handling them as the metal will be hot.
- Resting Time – Allow the steak bites to rest for about 5 minutes after cooking to hold the juices in, and ensure a tender, flavorful result.
- Vegetables – Add your favorite vegetables to make the steak kebabs a full meal on their own. Try bell peppers, red onion, cherry tomatoes, squash, or mushrooms.
- Use Quality Steak – Use a high quality steak like ribeye or top sirloin steak for the best results.
Storage Instructions
Store leftover steak kabobs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can remove them from the skewers if needed to save space.
Reheat the steak pieces in a skillet over low heat until warm throughout, to retain tenderness and flavor.
Steak Doneness – Steak Temperatures
If you are new to cooking steak, you will want to check the internal temperature of the steak with a meat thermometer to get the steak to your desired doneness.
- Rare – internal temperature of 125 F
- Medium Rare – internal temperature of 135 F
- Medium – internal temperature of 145 F
- Medium Well – internal temperature of 150 F
- Well Done – internal temperature of 160 F
How to make Steak Kabobs in the Oven?
If you don’t have a grill, you can also cook the garlic butter steak kabobs in the oven instead. Prepare the steak kabobs, and add them to a rimmed baking sheet.
Bake them in an oven preheated to 350 F and cook for 20 to 30 minutes, until they reach your desired temperature. Let rest for 5 minutes, then drizzle with additional garlic butter and serve.
These tasty garlic sirloin kabobs are as good as you’ll get from your favorite Brazilian Steak House. And the garlic butter is delicious on other foods like lobster, chicken, and grilled vegetables too. The steak bites are so good on top of mashed potatoes too.
The whole family will love these tender, juicy, garlicky steak kabobs for an easy, but fancy dinner at home! Perfect for a summer bbq, or any time of year.

I love the idea – beef and garlic – but (hate to be the only negative comment here) the 1 TB garlic salt AND less regular salt is way too much. Intend to try it with just a modicum of kosher salt to let the garlic shine through. Thanks for the idea anyway.

Aimee, We are already discussing what we will do this weekend with your recipe. You have a new baby to cause some dinner time other interests. We both understand. For us, all we have is a couple German Shepherds who want to help!! Teach your children well, I say that is reference to the love of family and cooking together. That is what makes family traditions.
Regards, Bill and Libby.

I just found this via Pinterest. I like the story of your “Be Together” dinner. My Wife and I will be doing this dinner together very soon. We make our own dinners together a lot. BTW: We are married 44 years this month.

William, you will have to let me know what you think of the sirloin! My husband and I love cooking together, though with a baby now its a little harder. Congratulations on 44 years of marriage! That’s wonderful!

I love in an apartment and don’t have a grill. Any thoughts about making this in an oven? Sounds wonderful!
Aimee Berrett says
Do you have an indoor grill, maybe a george foreman? I’ve never tried this with an oven, but here’s instructions from Livestrong how to cook sirloin in the oven. It will be shorter time if you cut the steak into pieces like we did. http://www.livestrong.com/article/414083-how-to-cook-sirloin-steak-in-an-oven/
